We read 100 currently-open business analyst postings and counted what they name. Below: the requirements, then a worked example measured against them.
A worked demonstration — written by us, not a real person's résumé. It covers 10 of the 20 things those postings ask for most, so you can see the shape of an answer rather than take our word for it.

What a business analyst résumé has to show
- The domain: finance, supply chain, claims, onboarding, and so on
- Requirements artefacts you produced and their scale
- Tools by name (SQL, Jira, Confluence, Power BI, Visio)
- A measured before and after on a process you changed
Bullets you can adapt
Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.
- Mapped 31 as-is processes across order-to-cash and cut manual handoffs from 14 steps to 6
- Wrote 148 user stories with acceptance criteria for an ERP migration touching 4 warehouses
- Ran 22 stakeholder workshops across finance and logistics and closed 87 open requirement conflicts
- Built the business case for a €650k automation project, showing an 18-month payback that the steering group approved
- Coordinated UAT with 36 testers across 3 countries and triaged 210 defects before go-live
- Analysed 400,000 claim records in SQL and found a routing rule causing 12% of cases to breach their service level
- Cut invoice exception handling from 90 minutes to 25 minutes per case by redesigning the approval matrix
And the ones to cut
These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.
- Responsible for gathering requirements from business stakeholders
- Acted as a bridge between business and IT teams
- Excellent problem solver with a proactive attitude

Business Analyst résumé questions
How technical should a business analyst CV be?
Technical enough to prove you can get your own data. SQL and a BI tool are now baseline for most product and operations analyst roles in Europe, and leaving them off pushes you towards process-only postings. If your work was genuinely workshop-led, say so and lead with process artefacts instead.
Should I list the methodology, Agile or waterfall?
Mention it once in context, not as a badge. Writing that you produced 148 user stories over 9 sprints tells a reader more than the word Agile on its own. Interviewers ask about ceremonies you actually ran, so avoid claiming a framework you only observed.
How do I show impact when delivery was owned by someone else?
Attribute honestly to the artefact. You can claim the analysis, the requirement quality and the defect count found before go-live even if a project manager owned the timeline. Reviewers respect a precise contribution more than a vague share of a big programme.
